Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to the Island

Arrive in Zanzibar and begin your adventure with a scenic boat ride to Prison Island. Your journey will take you through the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, offering stunning views of the coastline and nearby islands. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your local guide, who will lead you on a fascinating tour of the island. Learn about its rich history as a former slave prison, quarantine station, and later, a sanctuary for giant Aldabra tortoises. Spend some time exploring the island’s beautiful beaches and the remains of the prison structure, before relaxing on the sandy shores or snorkeling in the clear waters around the island.

Day 2: Snorkeling and Tortoise Sanctuary Visit

After breakfast on the island, embark on a snorkeling adventure in the crystal-clear waters around Prison Island. The area is home to colorful coral reefs, tropical fish, and diverse marine life. Snorkeling here offers an opportunity to swim with vibrant marine species in one of Zanzibar’s pristine aquatic environments. Afterward, visit the famous tortoise sanctuary, where you’ll have the chance to feed and interact with these giant creatures, some of which are over 100 years old. Enjoy a peaceful walk through the sanctuary’s lush gardens and take in the serene atmosphere before having a fresh seafood lunch on the island.

Day 3: Beach Relaxation and Return to Zanzibar

On your final day, take some time to unwind on the beautiful beaches of Prison Island. With its powdery white sand and calm waters, it’s the perfect spot to relax, swim, or even try kayaking. If you’re feeling adventurous, consider a guided nature walk around the island to explore its flora and fauna further. After a leisurely afternoon, your boat will take you back to Zanzibar’s main island in the late afternoon. From there, you can either return to your hotel or continue exploring other parts of Zanzibar.
